Gardening Burnishes

"Each new year of gardening burnishes previous years’ memories, legacies, harvests, and scars so that the gardener is not only protected from the short-term disappointment and discouragement that comes inevitably with gardening, but also strengthened to continue facing the challenges and rewards of gardening in changing times and environments. It is by accepting the vicissitudes and challenges of the garden that a gardener is freed from worry, doubt, and second-guessing that leaches delight and passion out of life and out of doing what we love while we have time and energy."
